Teaching Assistant

  • Contract Type: Temporary (12-month contract)
  • Salary: £12.82/hr

  • Hours: 32.5 hours per week (Term time only - 39 weeks)
  • Location: Cardiff

We are excited to offer the opportunity for dynamic, enthusiastic, and innovative individuals to join an 'Excellent' Special school based in Cardiff. This is a chance to contribute to a warm and nurturing school environment during a pivotal time in its development. The role involves supporting the class teacher, promoting inclusion, and encouraging independence among pupils with additional learning needs.

Day to day of the role:

  • Assist the class teacher with daily tasks and activities.
  • Support the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom.
  • Encourage pupils to act independently and develop their social skills.
  • Provide care and support tailored to pupils with additional needs, including those with speech, communication and language difficulties, autistic spectrum condition, severe learning difficulties, and physical and medical needs.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A commitment to the wellbeing and development of pupils.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team within a special school setting.
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) as per the Education (Wales) Act 2014.
  • Willingness to engage in professional learning opportunities
  • Must pass an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
