We're looking for a Quality Assurance (QA) Assistant to join an innovative company (with excellent benefits!) based in Hook, Hampshire, who operate in the electronics sector.
The Quality Assurance (QA) Assistant is responsible for developing, maintaining, and continuously improving the company's Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001, customer, and regulatory requirements. This role focuses on system compliance, process improvement, supplier quality management, audit preparation and participation, accurate ERP data management, and supporting cross-functional quality initiatives. The role acts as a key driver in maintaining company-wide quality performance and supporting the achievement of strategic quality objectives.
This includes:
- Supporting the development, maintenance, and improvement of the company's Integrated Management System (IMS) to meet ISO 9001, ISO 14001, customer, and legal requirements.
- Assisting in planning, conducting, and following up on internal, supplier, and external audits.
- Monitoring supplier performance and manage supplier non-conformance processes.
- Supporting supplier improvement activities to ensure incoming material quality.
- Work closely with customers, offshore teams, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and support improvement projects.
- Lead or assist with root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) using 5-Whys, Fishbone, and 8D methods.
- Help manage the calibration system, ensuring all equipment is tracked, maintained, and calibrated on time.
- Keep the company's ERP system updated with accurate and timely quality data.
- Prepare and report quality metrics, KPIs, and management review information.
- Maintain document control to ensure current processes and specifications are available across departments.
- Provide quality support to other teams, including handling customer quality requests and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, quality standards, and customer requirements.
About YOU!
- 3+ years' experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Systems in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Good knowledge of the national and international standards for quality (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 13485)
- Experience with internal and external audits, supplier quality, and managing non-conformances.
- Confident using ERP systems and keeping accurate quality records.
- Strong skills in document control and managing changes to procedures.
- Ability to effectively apply root cause analysis and problem-solving tools like 5-Whys, Fishbone, 8D, PDCA.
- Understanding of PPAP, FMEA, First Article Inspection (FAI), and control plans.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle several quality tasks at once.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with suppliers, internal teams, and customers.
- Previous experience in Supplier Development or Supplier Quality roles is an advantage.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and support the Quality Manager.
- HNC, HND, or higher qualification in Quality, Engineering, or Manufacturing.
- Formal training or certification in ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 internal auditing.
- IPC-A-610 and/or IPC-A-620 knowledge is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
