Salary: £4,688 per annum pro rata (£30,640 full time equivalent)

Job Type: Permanent, part - time working Saturdays during term time between 08:00 and 17:30

About Us:

Abingdon School is an outstanding independent school for pupils aged 11 to 18 conveniently situated in a beautiful area near Oxford, UK. The Head of Boarding is looking to appoint three organised and friendly individuals to assist with daily operations in the boarding houses on Saturdays during term time between 08:00am and 17:30pm.

Assistant Boarding House Manager - The Role:

The Assistant Boarding House Managers work closely with a wide range of stakeholders including students, parents, maintenance, catering, housekeeping, the Health Centre, the Counsellors and the week-time Boarding House Managers.

Assistant Boarding House Manager - Key Responsibilities:

Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Provide pastoral care to ensure the wellbeing of the pupils (day and boarding) in the House and to assist with daily operations on Saturdays
  • Responsible for the daily domestic management of the House on Saturdays including oversight of the cleaners in conjunction with the Housekeeping team
  • Work closely with Maintenance, Catering, Housekeeping (including laundry), the Health Centre, the School Counsellors and the week-time Boarding House Managers
  • Act as a point of contact for parents, liaising with them as necessary on domestic, welfare and medical matters, in consultation with the Head of House and the Boarding House Manager

Assistant Boarding House Manager - You:

Essential Qualities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal appropriately with pupils, staff and parents
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise own workload
  • To be flexible and adapt to differing situations effectively
  • The ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • To be calm, patient, discreet and tactful Competent user of IT (Google Docs/Sheets, Email)
  • Formal qualifications are not essential as relevant training will be provided
  • Displays commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Displays commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people
  • Values and respects the views and needs of children and young people

Desirable Qualities:

- Previous experience in a similar role
