Key Responsibilities:
- Examine patients' medical history.
- Prepare patients for treatment, including administering local anaesthesia.
- Diagnose dental problems through examination, X-rays, and tests.
- Clean teeth and remove plaque.
- Identify and treat tooth decay with fillings.
- Design and fit dental prosthetics such as bridges, crowns, and dentures.
- Apply teeth-whitening treatments.
- Conduct tooth extractions and root canal procedures.
- Perform surgeries on diseased tissues and bones.
- Prescribe medication as needed.
- Educate patients on proper brushing, flossing, and fluoride use.
- Promote good oral health and preventive dental care by scheduling regular check-ups and advocating for a healthy lifestyle.
- Operate technical equipment such as X-ray machines.
- Collaborate with other medical professionals including GPs, consultants, dental nurses, therapists, and hygienists.
- Maintain accurate records of patients' dental structure.
- Stay up to date with developments in dentistry.
- Work alongside a medical nurse and receptionist.
- Engage in continuing professional development (CPD).
- Lead and support a dental team.
