Senior Plant Engineer - Mechanical Maintenance

Our client based in Bournemouth has a requirement for an experienced Senior Engineer to join their site maintenance team to take responsibility for undertaking all aspects of preventative and reactive plant maintenance, providing guidance, direction, and leadership to junior engineers.

Your main duties will include the following:

  • Prepare and manage planned, preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance regimes to ensure optimum plant availability throughout all sites.
  • Manage all aspects of maintenance and repairs of mobile and static plant.
  • Contribute to annual budget plans and construction of op-ex requests.
  • Optimise all levels of plant performance and continuously identify areas within engineering to reduce cost and improve profit.
  • Support the operations team with selection & sourcing of new plant & machinery as required.
  • Fault finding and repairs to breakdowns on both mechanical and electrical equipment; identify and report opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with Engineering manager to schedule and plan maintenance tasks.
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers, share knowledge and continuously develop skills.
  • Responsible for issuing Work Permits and ensuring that Safe Systems of Work instructions are followed in line with Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Direct/supervise contractors to ensure works are completed to required times and standards.
  • Identify and stock spares effectively, order and organise stock control throughout the sites and for vehicles, ensuring timely purchasing for required maintenance.
  • Maintain systems to track services, inspections, and repairs as necessary.
  • Continually identify areas of improvement for all site activities.
  • Ensure the engineering team are well presented and professional at all times.
  • Working across multiple sites in various conditions.

Applicants will have recent experience working in a similar role, you must have mechanical knowledge of various plant machinery (mobile and static), a diverse range of mechanical, electrical (electrical preferred but not essential) engineering experience / qualifications and must be self-motivated with leadership skills. A full driving license is a must and plant machinery tickets would be a distinct advantage, although training will be provided if required.

This position is offered on a full-time and permanent basis, and you will be required to work 45 hours per week from Monday to Friday. There is an immediate start available for the right candidate and a salary up to £45,000 per annum.
