Plant Fitter / Agricultural Engineer

An experienced Plant Fitter / Agricultural Engineer is needed to join the on-site workshop team at this leading vendor of agricultural and construction machinery based in Essex on a full-time basis.

This full-time role involves diagnosing and repairing machinery, with a focus on electrical and hydraulic systems. There is significant room for progression as the company expands its business.

The business owner is seeking a right-hand man to eventually take on the running of the workshop in its entirety. While this level of responsibility will come in time, there is a clear pathway for career growth and development within the company.

The selected candidate must be able to reliably commute to, or be willing to relocate to, the site in Tillingham, Essex. For the right candidate, they are offering a farm cottage as a relocation benefit.

About the Company

The company buys and sells new and used agricultural and construction machinery. With a commitment to quality, it meticulously refurbishes older machines, ensuring they receive comprehensive repairs and servicing before being offered for sale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, service, and repair agricultural and construction machinery
  • Possess expertise in electrical and hydraulic fault diagnosis and repair
  • Effectively identify necessary parts for replacement
  • Rebuild engines and gearboxes
  • Use diagnostic equipment and interpret wiring/hydraulic diagrams
  • Perform metalwork, fabrication, and hydraulic hose making
  • Maintain a clean and safe workshop environment

Required Skills:

  • Friendly, approachable, and team-oriented
  • Flexible, motivated, and proactive
  • Capable of working under pressure and managing work schedules with minimal supervision
  • Ideally holds a forklift licence (training provided if necessary)
