Head of Building Safety

Marks Consulting Partners are currently looking for a Building Safety Manager to work with one of our Housing Association clients in Kent.

What the job will be doing

  • To lead strategic and operational building safety/compliance across all assets for the business. Responsible for researching and staying up to date in all areas of building safety and sharing key information to leadership team, exec team and Board.
  • Ensure statutory compliance and wider building safety is managed and monitored effectively, removing risk to the company where possible and identifying and implementing mitigation where complete removal is not possible
  • Provide meaningful insight reports on building safety/compliance, identifying any concerns and suggestion to the Assistant Director of Asset, Leadership Team and relevant Boards and committees.
  • Manage a team of building safety/compliance staff to plan, monitor and control property compliance across the business, for all statutory and non statutory compliance including service contracts for all 6 big risk areas: Fire, Legionella, Asbestos, Gas, Electrics & Lifts within agreed budgets and quality standards.
  • Promote building safety/compliance safety culture and requirements, identifying training needs throughout the business including Boards and Committees.
  • Lead in the review, delivery and implementation of robust procedures, policies, measures and controls in delivery of ensuring building safety/compliance and managing associated risks.

What you will need

  • Extensive experience of successfully managing a building safety/compliance team, being responsible for effectively managing risk.
  • Experience of managing projects and a diverse team in a housing or a construction environment
  • Understanding and analysing various sources of data and information to provide accurate and relevant advice to Boards and committees.
  • Experience of working with, and building relationships with, Boards, a wide range of business areas, and customers to ensure understanding of building safety.
  • Managing and Procuring compliance contracts or services.
  • Budget setting, monitoring and cost control maintaining comprehensive and accurate records.
  • Prioritising workload, time management and dealing with conflicting priorities.
  • Experience leading staff through operational and organisational change.
  • Evidence of building, maintaining and using networks to influence positive organisational behaviour.
  • Experience of managing and developing data and using analytical skills to convert ideas into policy and services.
  • Appropriate means of transport and ability/willingness to attend meetings in varying locations outside of core hours.
