About the Role:

We are seeking dedicated Family Support Workers to join our team in the Greater Manchester area. In this role, you will undertake holistic assessments of need and coordinate tailored packages of support for children and families. You will use a multi-agency approach to bring together relevant services, ensuring the right help is provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct holistic assessments of need and coordinate tailored support packages.
  • Use a multi-agency approach to ensure comprehensive support for children and families.
  • Assess risk and formulate multi-agency plans to meet families' needs.
  • Develop effective relationships with families using a restorative practice approach.
  • Work in partnership with families experiencing challenging situations to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Develop timely family help plans, empowering families to achieve their goals.
  • Maintain regular contact with children and families, working with them in their homes or community venues.
  • Empower families to make sustainable changes through a strength-based and solution-focused approach.
  • Develop culturally sensitive plans to meet the diverse needs of children and families.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes/records using electronic case/information management systems.

Qualifications and Professional Development:

  • Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject area (e.g., Health, Education, Social Work, Youth Justice, Early Years, Community, Mental Health).
  • Level 2 qualification in Safeguarding Adults and Children.
  • Commitment to personal and professional development.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Experience using practice models and tools to assess risk and needs, and develop family plans (e.g., Graded Care Profile 2, CSE/CCE risk management tools, DASH risk assessment).
  • Understanding of adverse childhood experiences and the trio of vulnerabilities (Mental Health, Substance Misuse, Domestic Abuse).
  • Knowledge of child development, positive parenting, and safeguarding concerns.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation, guidance, and Early Help principles.
  • Understanding of the impact of discrimination on socially excluded communities.
  • Experience in case management and developing innovative family plans.
  • Experience in collaborative multi-disciplinary work to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Understanding of GDPR principles.

  • Ability to work independently, including lone working.
  • Solution-focused and proactive, maintaining resilience in challenging environments.
  • Strong analytical and assessment skills.
  • Empathy and relational practice approach with families.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
