Are you an experienced and skilled Building Control Officer looking for a new challenge? �?? Our client, a local authority based in te West Midlands, is seeking a passionate individual to join their team and make a positive impact in enforcing Building Regulations and Associated Legislation.

?? Here's what you'll be responsible for:

  • Maintaining registration as a Registered Building Inspector with the Building Safety Regulator. ??
  • Managing your own workload and delivering services effectively and efficiently in consultation with the Building Control Manager. ??
  • Contributing to the overall performance of the Section by helping to prepare, implement, and review the Section Delivery Plan. ??
  • Meeting performance targets and outcomes, both personal and for the Section, to support the Council in delivering the Community and Council Plans. �?
  • Keeping up-to-date knowledge of legislation, regulations, guidance, and best practises for continuous learning and development. ??
  • Assessing applications for compliance with the Building Regulations and Associated Legislation within statutory time limits. ??
  • Conducting site inspections to ensure constructed works comply with regulations and guidance. ??
  • Preparing evidence statements on Building Regulation matters and representing the Council in examinations, court proceedings, and public inquiries. ??
  • Liaising with various stakeholders, including internal and external consultees, agents, applicants, and the public. ??
  • Providing advice on building control, legislation, and construction matters. ??
  • Taking part in working groups and project teams, including multi-disciplinary teams for major applications. ??
  • Promoting the Section and participating in marketing initiatives to maintain and expand market share. ??
  • Assisting with the implementation of service and operational improvements. ??
  • Collaborating with other services and sections to ensure effective service delivery. ??
  • Participating in Partnership and Cross-Boundary working, including plan assessment and site inspections. �?
  • Adhering to health and safety obligations and undertaking required training. ?????
  • Demonstrating expertise in a specialist area determined by the Section Manager. ??
  • Being flexible in approach to work and willing to work outside normal hours if required. ???
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Head of Planning & Regeneration and Section Manager. ??

?? Qualifications and Skills required:

  • Relevant experience as a Building Control Officer.
  • Registered Building Inspector with the Building Safety Regulator, minimum Class 2b competency level.
  • Thorough knowledge of Building Regulations, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Experience in assessing applications and conducting site inspections.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Full driving licence.
