Area Manager - £36,000 - £40,500 per annum (Salaries vary depending on experiences)

Hours – 37 hours per week, Monday – Sunday, inclusive of bank holidays – Hybrid Working

Service – Harwood House, Aylesbury/North Oxford

What You'll Be Doing:

The Harwood Houseteam is a 24/7 supported living scheme for adults with long term mental health issues. Clients are supported at Harwood House following extended stays on acute psychiatric and rehabilitation wards or are returning closer to home after periods in out of county placements.

Whilst working under the direction of the Operations Manager, you are responsible for the overall management of the services. As Patch Area Manager you will be the first point of call that all of the team will turn to for advice and support. You will be required to effectively manage the team and any performance concerns effectively, whilst encouraging them to perform at their highest level achievable. Understanding the team's career aspirations is essential and you will work closely with them to help them achieve and progress within the organisation.

Overall job responsibility - Further detail can be viewed in the Job Description. Some of the core duties include:

  • Work alongside the Operations Manager to ensure that the project operates in a safe manner, and in line with all Health & Safety Regulations.
  • Provide daily support to the team and ensure that each shift is fully staffed, with appropriate members of the team available that allows residents to regularly see each member of the team.
  • Manage team duties and allocate them on a daily basis. Delegating appropriate tasks and responsibilities to suitable team members that ensures residents receive appropriate support depending on their needs.
  • Manage and supervise (when required) medication processes in line with the policy and the residents support plan. Work in line with the company's adult protection and prevention of abuse (where applicable). No resident will be supported with their medication until the employee has completed full training.
  • Work alongside the Housing Department in respect of all tenancy related issues, including concerns about tenancy breaches, warnings and notices. Work in a positive manner to ensure that each residents tenancy rights and responsibilities are effectively managed.
  • Ensure all new staff receive an effective induction, are provided with regular supervisions and have access to all relevant company drives and policies.
  • To actively seek and respond to residents feedback and implement changes as appropriate. Respond to any complaints, feedback and suggestions and encourage residents, families and key stakeholders to provide feedback on the services provided.
  • Attend all mandatory training required to complete and maintain your role, ensuring you keep up to date with changes to specific law relevant to the service you are within.
  • Represent the organisation in a professional and appropriate manner at all times by considering punctuality, personal appearance and boundaries, including equal opportunities.
  • Comply with all health and safety measures to keep residents, visitors, colleagues and yourself safe by conducting regular checks within all areas and departments required.

The Successful Applicant:

  • GCSE's in English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Experience of working within a team.
  • A strong understanding of the current mental health policies and practices in social care.
  • IT literate with experience using MS Office packages.
  • Previous experience working within a mental health environment, and providing care for those residents.
  • Good communication skills, written, verbal and listening.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends.
  • Ability to act calmly in a professional manner whilst dealing with unpredictable and challenging behaviour.
  • Reliable, Patient, Compassionate & Empathetic.
  • Current, valid and full drivers' licence with access to a road worthy vehicle.
