Compliance Manager Health, Safety and Environment

Overall Purpose:

  • Implementation and maintenance of the organization's management systems.
  • Serve as the focal resource for certification and regulatory body approval, auditing, and inspections.
  • Report on the performance of the management system to the Group Compliance Manager.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within the Health, Safety, and Environment domain.
  • Extensive experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
  • Familiarity with CAA 21 and CAA 145 standards.
  • Strong technical ability in occupational health and safety, environmental, and safety management systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of process and control awareness.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Skills:

  • Proficient in conducting audits and inspections.
  • Skilled in generating and analyzing KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Capable of managing and closing corrective actions.
  • Competent in performing risk assessments and implementing continuous improvements.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily based in Southend-On-Sea with potential travel as required.
  • Full-time position with standard office hours (early finish on Friday's), with occasional requirements to work outside of these hours to meet business needs.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Identify and flow down applicable compliance requirements to the business.
  • Provide assurance of functional audit compliance to business management system processes.
  • Generate business management system performance metrics output reports by function (Key Performance Indicators - KPIs).
  • Identify functional corrective actions and manage closure.
  • Generate management system audits and findings.
  • Document, issue, and maintain management systems and processes.
  • Implement continuous improvements and lessons learned.
  • Perform risk assessment activities required by the business.
  • Report on the effectiveness and performance of the management systems as required by the Group Compliance Manager.
  • Establish and maintain a departmental structure sufficient to support compliance activities.
  • Ensure effective processes for managing employee performance, attendance, timekeeping, and employee relations, in close alignment with the HR Team.
  • Ensure all applicable staff are informed about the organization's performance and future plans through formal briefing processes and reviews.
  • Abide by and lead adherence to internally established control systems and authorities, encouraging all employees to conduct their activities in accordance with all applicable laws and the organization's standards and policies, including its health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Collaborate with others to ensure the organization has appropriate systems to conduct its activities lawfully and ethically.
  • Contribute to ensuring the organization maintains high standards of corporate citizenship and social responsibility wherever it does business.
  • Carry out any other tasks that are reasonable and relevant as required.
