If so, you might be the perfect candidate for our Attendance Support Officer role based in Wandsworth, South West London.

Your new role

We are looking for a highly motivated and suitably experienced school staff member to help and promote excellent attendance, reduce levels of absence and work with pupils and families to achieve a positive attendance culture.

You will be working within the attendance and pastoral team and going out into the community on a daily basis. Communicating with families directly to promote the importance of a positive attendance culture and the impact that has on a child's learning journey.

This is a full-time temporary position for at least a term and will be reviewed on a termly basis.

While the above is the main focus on this job role, you may also be expected to support with the below;

  • Work with the school to reduce persistent absence.
  • Answer and record absence messages via phone, email and text.
  • Schedule and attend meetings, take minutes which will need to be recorded on the appropriate platforms.
  • Monitor and record the outcomes of plans with parents/pupils to improve attendance; maintain efficient notes.
  • You may be asked to send regular attendance and punctuality information to key staff in school.
  • When appropriate, refer students for additional support.
  • Completion of all necessary documentation, including any referrals to external agencies such as Early Help, CAMHS and the Local Authority.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience in a school environment
  • Knowledge of SIMS or other school management systems (desirable but not essential)
  • A friendly and helpful attitude with a calm and supportive manner
  • A high level of confidentiality and discretion
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Access to a car would be preferable to reach some families not local to the school - expenses will be given.
