They are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Editorial Coordinator to support their mission, by ensuring the excellence of their journal. This role offers hybrid working
Reporting to the Managing Editor, and collaborating closely with the journal team, this role will support the development of Journal strategy, aligning closely with organisational objectives and KPI's.
Key responsibilities of this role will involve:
- Technical editing of manuscripts, ensuring consistency, scientific accuracy and compliance with Journal policy, and providing linguistic improvement as required
- Copyediting selected articles to house style
- Monitor and improve key editorial processes, including manuscript peer-review and production
- Checking revised proofs and making essential corrections as necessary
- Monitoring production workflow
- Acting as the main contact for Editorial Office
- Responsibility for regular and efficient communication between the editorial office, Editors and Editorial Board
- Line manage Editorial Assistants and provide guidance, training and direction
- Triage and assign manuscripts to technical editors or copyeditors
The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level in a biological or biomedical sciences subject and will have demonstrable experience in scientific publishing, or an editorial office for scientific or academic journals, with a proven track record in editing and proof-reading science-related materials. You should have line management experience, and the ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines. Excellent written English and strong problem-solving skills are a must for this role as are strong IT skills and the ability to analyse and report on data activities.
