Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an Assistant Project Manager on behalf of one of our clients.

You will support the Programme Manager / Management Team in the delivery of a variety of remits in accordance with Welsh Government's remit.

Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities for the Assistant Project Manager:

  • Support the Project Manager with all aspects of contract management by providing early warnings and compensation events to ensure all projects are delivered to cost and quality in accordance with applicable project lifecycle processes.
  • Arrange and attend risk reduction meetings and internal risk register reviews by highlighting and implementing mitigation actions to enable the business to effectively manage potential risks.
  • Support project delivery by reviewing project documentation submitted by delivery partners to ensure that the business and its delivery partners are adhering to project governance and safety.
  • Support the arrangement of track possessions by attending possession planning and readiness meetings, engaging with stakeholders and reviewing documentation to ensure the works are coordinated and suitably prepared for delivery.
  • Provide pre-construction information by working with the relevant Construction Manager and following the relevant protocols to ensure the Principal Contractor and Principal Designers are undertaking their duties in line with the Construction Design & Management (CDM) Regulations 2015.
  • Support the provision of updates and report on project works productivity by collating information and attending value management meetings to ensure that the business is achieving value for money.
  • Support the Project Manager to understand and monitor the financial position of the project works by providing regular progress reports, including relevant risks and issues, to ensure the projects are delivered to time, budget, quality, requirements and achieve value for money.
  • Highlight and investigate changes by reviewing programme submissions to ensure that any issues that may affect the programme completion date have been identified and escalated as required.

Skills and Qualifications for the Assistant Project Manager:

  • Relevant experience of supporting or delivering a diverse range of infrastructure projects, which include multi-disciplinary interfaces.
  • Good appreciation, knowledge and understanding of health, safety and environmental regulations and best practice under CDM Regulations 2015.
  • Effectual interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present project management information to varying levels of seniority.
  • Ability to provide project administration on a range of Microsoft Office software packages, with the ability to monitor and update action trackers, programmes, project reporting, risk and issue processes.

Desirable for the Assistant Project Manager:

  • Possess or working towards a relevant qualification, e.g. engineering/business/project management (HNC, HND) or an equivalent professional qualification such as PMQ or PRINCE2.
  • Previous experience of delivering projects within the Built Environment.
  • Possess supporting qualifications pertinent to the role, including NEC, IOSH, NEBOSH, SMSTS, etc certifications; or experience in using project management tools such as Sypro, CEMAR.
  • Experience of working with the public sector and/or government officials.
  • Welsh language skills.
