Head of Compliance

Reed are seeking a Head of Compliance to join our established Legal client. This strategic and operational role is crucial in shaping the culture and direction of this well-regarded law firm. You will be instrumental in advising on compliance matters, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring a positive experience for clients and employees.
Day to Day of the role:
- Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures in line with SRA standards and regulations.
- Monitor compliance performance, identify risks, and ensure resolution of breaches or complaints.
- Provide guidance and training to staff on compliance matters such as anti-money laundering and data protection.
- Liaise with external auditors, regulators, and insurers, maintaining positive relationships.
- Manage the firm's accreditations and ensure compliance with their standards.
- Stay updated on legal sector developments and regulatory changes, adapting firm practices accordingly.
- Lead and manage the compliance team, setting objectives, and conducting appraisals.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Solid background in compliance and risk management, preferably within the legal sector.
- Thorough knowledge of SRA standards, anti-money laundering legislation, and data protection laws.
- Experience in managing Office and Professional Indemnity Insurance.
- Ability to design and monitor policies and procedures for firm-wide compliance.
- Leadership skills with the ability to guide, train, and support employees.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage with senior management and external parties.
- Proactive and pragmatic problem-solving approach with strong analytical skills.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and staying abreast of compliance and risk management trends.
