Construction Manager

Key Qualifications for this Position include:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or eqv) from an accredited university with minimum twenty years (20) Project Management experience in Oil, Gas and Refinery Projects EPCC Projects
  • Experience in large-scale Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Projects and working with major IOC
  • Has clearly demonstrated engineering and project management competence
  • Ability to work in multicultural environment
  • Strong knowledge with relevant codes (ASCE, BS etc)
  • Demonstrated interpersonal/team building skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project and Primavera P6
  • Strong written and Oral English Communication

Job Description

  • Oversee the construction project from start to finish.
  • Perform a key role in project planning, budgeting, and identification of resources needed.
  • Create the teams, develop the objectives/goals of each and assign individual responsibilities.
  • Project accounting functions including managing the budget, tracking if team expenses and minimizing exposure and risk in the project
  • Ensure that construction activities move according to pre-determined schedule.
  • Devise the project work plans and make revisions as and when need arises.
  • Co-ordinate the efforts of all parties involved in the project, which include the engineers, consultants, contractors, sub-contractors and laborers.
  • Monitor the progress of the construction activities on a regular basis and hold regular status meetings with all the sub-teams.
  • Maintain strict adherence to the budgetary guidelines, quality and safety standards.
  • Regular inspection of construction sites.
  • Ensure project documents are complete.
  • Identify the elements of project design and construction likely to give rise to disputes and claims.
  • Responsible for maintaining the project construction schedules by correct supervision of the work and assuring availability of adequate tolls, equipment and manpower.
  • Ensure feedback and deviation reports to project manager
  • Monitors receipt and storage of all materials.
  • Ensure that subcontractor deploys the right quality of personnel at the right time for the required duration.
  • Ensure that subcontractor complies with all its obligations under the contract, including adherence to the specifications, schedule and procedures.
  • Take necessary corrective action to align project back on track in case of deviations from plans (cost, schedule, quality, HSE, performance, operability, maintainability, etc.).
  • Monitor subcontractor performance against its program, deliverables, and milestones in line with progress measurement and reporting system set out in the EPC contract.
  • Avoid the variations from contract by taking proactive/preventive actions.
