Director - Claims Management

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Shipowners Marine Hull team as a Director - Claims Management. You will be responsible for a portfolio of varied clients requiring ‘hands-on', strong relationship building to assist them with all aspects of their insurance programmes. You'll be guiding existing clients through mid-term adjustments and renewals, including presentations to the appropriate market, whilst also identifying new business opportunities. We are especially interested to hear from candidates with Marine Hull insurance market experience and knowledge.

The Role

Client Portfolio Management:

  • Cultivate robust relationships with clients to thoroughly understand their insurance needs and ensure these requirements are met effectively.
  • Continuously monitor and adapt to changes in client circumstances to ensure insurance coverage remains aligned with their evolving needs.
  • Collaborate with other divisions within Willis to address cross-specialty client needs, maintaining a cohesive and consistent approach.
  • Gain a deep understanding of clients' businesses and their risk management requirements, delivering solutions through ongoing service and support.
  • Apply and, when necessary, clarify business unit policies and procedures to clients and internal teams.
  • Identify and engage with primary budget holders and decision-makers within client organizations to build and sustain strong relationships.
  • Provide technical, industry, and subject matter expertise as required, leveraging specialized knowledge within the business unit and across the Group.
  • Develop and execute strategies for solution structuring, pricing, and placement to meet client needs while ensuring profitable business outcomes.
  • Drive portfolio growth by identifying and capitalizing on opportunities within existing client relationships.

Retention and Growth:

  • Fulfill cross-sell and up-sell opportunities to maximize client value.
  • Promote new business referrals and recommendations from current clients.
  • Conduct renewal market presentations and negotiations, offering well-considered recommendations to clients.
  • Lead the sales process and business area practices to win, retain, and develop profitable new clients.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective clients in collaboration with your team.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to daily client service needs and new business inquiries.
  • Seek out and act on opportunities to collaborate with colleagues to enhance account penetration and cross-selling potential.

Placement Management:

  • Maintain strong working relationships with market partners as necessary.
  • Ensure transparency regarding agency and other commitments to carriers and clients.
  • Oversee compliant processing of contracts in alignment with FCA, CEM, and contract certainty requirements.
  • Review policies, market presentations, and client documentation to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Design insurance programs and pricing structures that align with client needs, leveraging knowledge of the client, market conditions, and industry sector.
  • Optimize revenue from new and existing clients by utilizing a full range of placement channels and market options tailored to client segments.

Operational:

  • Adhere to business procedures and operational requirements consistently.
  • Proactively develop and present solutions to ensure high client retention rates.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, associates, markets, and other stakeholders to enhance service delivery.

The Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of the Marine Hull insurance market, both UK and internationally.
  • Preferably holds a degree or possesses relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrates strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Exhibits proficiency in problem-solving, planning, and budgeting.
