Our client, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, is actively seeking a seasoned Legal Services Lead. This is a unique opportunity to be part of their team at the Roundall/Cross site, with a flexible working pattern of 3 days one week and 2 days the other on site. The position is available immediately, requiring a commitment of 37.5 hours per week for a duration of 3 months, with a review for potential extension.

Location: The role is based at the Roundall/Cross site, with postcodes ME16 9QQ and TN2 4QJ. The role offers a potential hybrid working model.

Salary: The hourly rate for this position ranges from £22.33 to £23.52.

Candidate Profile: The successful candidate should possess significant experience in managing clinical negligence claims, preparing witness statements for the Coroners' Courts, attending inquests, and providing advocacy support at these proceedings.

Role Overview: The appointed individual will be responsible for managing their own case load of complex inquests, safeguarding enquiries, and claims. This encompasses investigation, statement taking, advocacy, and offering guidance and direction to junior team members in their portfolio of cases, escalating any potential high risks to the Trust to the Head of Legal Services.

They will provide support to the team in handling complex medico-legal enquiries and advice. The role also requires the individual to support and stand in for the Head of Legal Services (as needed) in delivering high-quality legal services training packages to the wider Trust.

Collaboration: The role involves collaboration with a diverse range of teams and individuals including other legal team members, Patient Safety Team, Governance and Risk Staff, Complaints team, Executive team, Trust staff involved in any potential claim, NHS Resolution, HM Coroner, Communications Team, Police Officers, Patients and their relatives, Claimant Solicitors, and Local Council (legal teams and social services).

Budgetary Responsibilities: In the absence of the Head of Legal Services, the post holder will be entrusted with responsibilities for the total legal services budget.

Key Performance Indicators: The role demands excellent systems and processes leading to efficient and quality information flow and high standards of legal services provision.
