The Opportunity: We are currently seeking an experienced Bookkeeper & Payroll Administrator to join this friendly accounting team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an organized professional to play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth payroll operations for the firm's diverse client portfolio.

Bookkeeper & Payroll Administrator Key Responsibilities:

  • Process bookkeeping transactions including invoices, payments, receipts and reconciliations
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate client records using accounting software (Sage, Xero etc.)
  • Prepare VAT returns, reconcile control accounts and assist with month/year-end procedures
  • Process weekly/monthly payroll for clients, calculating taxes, NICs, statutory payments etc.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, RTI submissions and dealing with HMRC queries
  • Liaise with clients to obtain relevant payroll data and resolve any discrepancies
  • Produce comprehensive payroll reports and provide support/training to clients as needed
  • Assist the accounts team with ad-hoc duties and general administrative tasks

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper and/or payroll administrator
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll regulations including RTI, PAYE, NIC, SMP etc.
  • Proficiency in using accounts and payroll software packages (Sage, Xero, BrightPay etc.)
  • Excellent numeracy and attention to detail with the ability to work accurately
  • Great time management and organizational abilities to meet deadlines
  • Confident client-facing skills with the ability to build positive relationships
  • Proactive and resourceful with a team-oriented mindset
  • AAT qualification or relevant qualifications/certifications are desirable
