The Opportunity: We are currently seeking an experienced Bookkeeper & Payroll Administrator to join this friendly accounting team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an organized professional to play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth payroll operations for the firm's diverse client portfolio.
Bookkeeper & Payroll Administrator Key Responsibilities:
- Process bookkeeping transactions including invoices, payments, receipts and reconciliations
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate client records using accounting software (Sage, Xero etc.)
- Prepare VAT returns, reconcile control accounts and assist with month/year-end procedures
- Process weekly/monthly payroll for clients, calculating taxes, NICs, statutory payments etc.
- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, RTI submissions and dealing with HMRC queries
- Liaise with clients to obtain relevant payroll data and resolve any discrepancies
- Produce comprehensive payroll reports and provide support/training to clients as needed
- Assist the accounts team with ad-hoc duties and general administrative tasks
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper and/or payroll administrator
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll regulations including RTI, PAYE, NIC, SMP etc.
- Proficiency in using accounts and payroll software packages (Sage, Xero, BrightPay etc.)
- Excellent numeracy and attention to detail with the ability to work accurately
- Great time management and organizational abilities to meet deadlines
- Confident client-facing skills with the ability to build positive relationships
- Proactive and resourceful with a team-oriented mindset
- AAT qualification or relevant qualifications/certifications are desirable
