My client is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their well established company in St . Albans. This is a 1 year contract to cover maternity leave.
This is a full-time, usually based out of our St Albans office with the option to work up to 40% of the week from home.
Duties:
- Processing of all bills
- Inputting and reconciliation of office payments and transfers between office and client bank accounts in accordance with Law Society rules.
- Liaising with fee-earners/secretaries regarding all queries on ledgers
- Administration and reconciliation of client designated deposit accounts
- Inputting, authorising and releasing Bacs and Chaps payments through the online system
- Posting and payment of client disbursements through the purchase ledger
- Communication with the Firm's bank in relation to any payment queries
- Calculating and inputting of interest due on client ledgers as and when requested by fee-earners
- Purchase ledger including - posting direct debits, input invoices, make payments via bacs
- WIP and disbursement write offs
- Occasional assistance with taking credit card payments via online terminal
Experience: AAT or Legal Cashier qualification (desirable)
Knowledge of Excel, and ideally Elite 3E
At least 2 years accounts experience, legal/practice experience preferred
Knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules (desirable)
Practical experience of handling client enquiries
