Head of Finance

Partner Financial are working in collaboration with a rapidly growing start-up based in Central London. The environment is highly dynamic, fast paced and the firm has grown significantly since it was founded. This highly ambitious organisation is ideally positioned to continue to expand because of substantial investment and their focus on long-term client partnerships.

The successful candidate will report directly to the CFO and be their number two. They will be responsible for bringing accountancy processes in house and growing its finance function. This role would suit an ambitious self-starter who is looking for an opportunity to help scale a forward-thinking business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that the finance function delivers a full accounting service to the business, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control, payroll, HMRC
  • Driving ad-hoc projects and a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organisation by identifying quick wins and long-term strategic objectives across all functions
  • Developing a robust understanding of the financial aspects of the business to promote and implement control mechanisms
  • Preparing the cash forecasts as well as monitoring the cash balances across the business
  • Collaborating closely with the CFO to review and improve operational finance processes and reporting cycles
  • Business Partnering across all levels of the organisation, ensuring decisions are made with awareness of their financial implications
  • Ensuring periodic tax filings are prepared and filed within the required timelines, as well as liaising with external auditors and professional advisors.
  • Working with the auditors to run an efficient and timely year end audit process.
  • Completion of the reporting pack and being the first point of contact to discuss queries
  • Producing the management accounts and board reports, ensuring the leadership team have visibility and being a key point of contact for them;
  • Overseeing payroll in partnership with the payroll provider, and establishing policies and procedures within finance

The Candidate:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA or equivalent)
  • Practice trained, ideally from a Top 20 firm
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment is essential
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • An ambitious, self-starter who is looking for the opportunity to develop professionally
  • Excellent IT literacy, especially MS Excel
  • Highly organised, with a strong track record of meeting frequent, tight deadlines.
