Head of Reporting

Responsible for the communication of financial performance of the Group to senior management to inform decision making and managing the interim and annual reporting for the Group. Supporting all Group Finance responsibilities and working closely with the Group Financial Controller and deputising for that role as required.

The main accountabilities are:

  • Lead the Group reporting team in all aspects of the Group's internal and external reporting cycles
  • Communicate the financial performance of the Group to senior management with insightful analysis and relevant narrative to inform decision making
  • Develop internal relationships and understanding to generate knowledge and insight into the Group's businesses, proactively identifying and managing technical, reporting or operational challenges
  • Managing the interim and annual reporting for the Group and trading entities, and coordination of statutory accounts production and acting as liaison with external auditors
  • Providing technical accounting leadership to the Group and its businesses, with the ability to independently assess accounting impacts
  • Oversight of internal control development and compliance, including maintenance and challenge of existing policies and procedures, documentation thereof and ensuring reporting risks are mitigated
  • Supporting all Group Finance responsibilities, working closely with the Group Financial Controller and deputising for that role as required.
  • Work closely with Group FP&A and Tax and Treasury colleagues to ensure full understanding of the financials and reporting landscape
  • Strive for continuous improvement in all processes to drive robust and accurate outputs, including improvements to reporting, self-serve capability and systems development
  • Management and development of the Financial and Management reporting teams
  • Ad-hoc projects such as due diligence or acquisition accounting as required

Essential knowledge and expertise:

  • A Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA) with material audit practise experience
  • Excellent technical knowledge and an ability to communicate that knowledge effectively
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of business needs and relevant application of accounting standards
  • Excellent Excel and other MS package skills
  • Experience of working in large/corporate organisations

This is a hybrid role and you will be expected to be in the Newcastle office 3 days per week.

The salary is likely to be around £80k, but salary won't be a barrier for the right candidate.
