We are recruiting for an experienced BTL Underwriter to join a leading provider of Specialist Mortgages and Property Finance in the UK. Established since 2005, the company has positioned itself as one of the prominent non-bank lenders in the UK, based on the scale of its operations and loan portfolio.

As an Underwriter, you'll be offered a salary of up to £45,000, plus an annual bonus. You'll also have the chance to expand your mandate within the role. Additional perks include private healthcare, a contributory pension scheme, no weekend work, and the joy of casual dress-down Fridays!

Our client, situated in Watford, is a trusted partner for homeowners, landlords, and property investors aiming to achieve their financial objectives. They are experts in various property finance sectors, including mortgages, buy-to-let, bridging finance, and development finance.

As an Underwriter, your responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating loan applications in line with the company's lending criteria.
  • Handling buy-to-let cases and assessing the potential of each deal.
  • Reviewing loan documentation, such as valuation reports, and requesting additional information from brokers.
  • Proactively identifying any potential issues.
  • Conducting checks on applicants and properties to determine their suitability for the loan.
  • Managing a pipeline of mortgage applications.
  • Overseeing cases from initiation to completion.

  • Prior experience in a bank, building society, or specialist mortgage lender.

  • CeMAP qualification (preferable).

  • Experience in underwriting mortgage applications.
