We are currently seeking a focused and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a reputable primary school in Camden, London. This full-time role begins in September 2024 and is a 12-month contract with the potential to become a permanent position.
Role Overview: As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide 1:1 support to a reception-aged child with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Your role will be crucial in helping the child access the curriculum, engage in school activities, and develop social and communication skills in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a reception-aged child with SEN, ensuring their individual needs are met.
- Assist in implementing the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and adapt learning activities accordingly.
- Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for the child.
- Monitor and record the child's progress, providing feedback to parents and staff.
- Support the child's social and emotional development, promoting positive interactions with peers.
- Help manage the child's behavior using effective and positive strategies.
- Participate in training and professional development sessions as required.
Requirements:
- Experience working with young children, particularly those with SEN.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children's learning and development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
