The Firm:

A County Durham regional accountancy firm with a close knit team are looking to welcome an Accountant to join them as they continue to service local clients with their everyday accounting and business advisory requirements. A superb opportunity for an Accountant either from practice or Industry to get involved in a hands-on varied accounting position.

The Role:

Supporting the Partners portfolio of clients, completing the following tasks:

  • Preparation of year end statutory accounts for SME businesses (where experience permits)
  • Assisting with elements of bookkeeping, trial balance and preparation of monthly management accounts for a range of businesses
  • Working with clients using a number of accountancy software packages such as Xero to assist them with queries and ensure monthly reconciliation of their accounts and ensuring they are Making Tax Digital (MTD) ready
  • Completion of quarterly of VAT returns
  • Liaison with HMRC on behalf of clients

Experience Required:

  • We are looking for an individual with UK accounting experience gained either from private practice or private industry.
  • You must be capable of Bookkeeping to trial balance stage and able to produce either management and or statutory accounts.
  • AAT qualified Level 4 or qualified by experience (ACCA desired but not essential)
  • A competent user of accountancy systems such as Xero, Sage, Quickbooks, Iris.
  • Happy to work as part of a team, office based.
  • Enjoy interacting with clients, getting to know their businesses and forging trusting relationships
