Location: Solihull B91

Hours: Full time Monday to Friday

Salary: £30 - 35,000 dependent on experience

We are working on behalf of an awarding winning organisation which is seeking to bring inhouse its Finance function and are seeking a competent Finance Assistant. They have been established in their industry sector for nearly 20 years, and deliver exceptional results for their clients.

As Finance Assistant, you would be solely responsible for managing the finance operations across the organisation. This will involve maintaining accounts payable, accounts receivable, processing monthly payroll, assist with budgets/forecasting, preparing tax submissions and preparing year end accounts to be processed by external Accountants.

The long-term plan is for this role to promote into Finance Manager, leading a team beneath you then further progression to Finance Director seated on the Board providing long term strategic financial support. The business would be happy to provide sponsorship for the successful individual to achieve ACCA Chartered status in the future.

This is an office based role in Solihull town centre. Working Monday to Thursday 9am until 5pm and Friday 9am until 4pm. Free parking is available on a rota basis.

This role will require a DBS check due to the nature of the organisation.

Role and responsibilities:

  • As the company Finance Assistant you will be responsible for managing the accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Act as point of contact for all finance and accounts queries from clients, suppliers, colleagues, senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Work with colleagues to ensure clients are invoiced at correct stage of their projects to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Accurately record all financial transactions and process invoicing, billing and bank statements
  • Responsible for tax preparation - VAT, HMRC and Corporation Tax submissions
  • Create efficient and effective methods for tracking financial data and provide analysis of trends and/or errors
  • Collate and analyse financial information in Excel
  • Support in conducting financial audits by providing information and data
  • Complete intercompany transactions monthly
  • Create and adhere to budgets for specific departments, projects, and business needs
  • Produce financial forecasts and budget reports to present to senior leadership team
  • Process monthly payroll for up to 60 employees
  • Process company expenses
  • Adhoc accounts, finance or administrative tasks as required

Skills and experience required:

  • Proven demonstrable work history a similar Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant, Finance Office position is essential
  • Degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business related field
  • AAT or similiar qualifications desirable
  • Ability to accurately process data with strong attention to detail and analytical skillset
  • Trustworthy and confidential nature
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable to work within a collaborative team environment
