Technical Assistant / QA - Wells - £33000 including shift allowance + Additional Bonus up to 10%

My Client, a well-established and award winning food manufacturer is looking to recruit a Technical Assistant / Quality Technologist / QA / Quality Auditor / Quality Improvement technologist for their modern state of the art factory based near Wells in Somerset. The successful candidate will report into the Quality Manager and the main role will be to support, maintain and enhance the quality and food safety management standards across all areas of the food manufacturing site on a day-to-day basis. You will audit and verify the production systems to ensure that the highest technical standards are achieved for all foods produced.

This is a Saturday to Tuesday 2pm-11pm day based role paying a basic salary of circa £33k inc shift premium as well as a bonus. Also offered is a matched pension, free parking and a subsidised canteen..

Technical Assistant Key tasks will include:

Sampling, testing, auditing and monitoring to verify that all processes, procedures and products are being produced in a safe & compliant manner.

  • Gather and prepare samples for microbiological assessment as per agreed schedules. Taking swabs and water samples, and re-testing where necessary.
  • Follow up on reports of problematic raw materials / WIP ingredients / finished goods, to ensure decisions are made and communicated to the wider business in a timely manner
  • Carry out internal audits, including GMP, Fabrication and Hygiene Audits.
  • Audit and file production paperwork.
  • Investigating customer complaints, quality issues, or any non-conformance
  • CCP verification and validation.
  • Complete and update data logging systems.
  • Support the implementation, embedding and maintenance of a QA approach within the production teams.
  • Support Quality and QMS Technologists with workloads.

Experience / Skills Required:

  • Previous technical experience in a food, drink or pharmaceutical sector
  • Experience in a QA or QC role preferable
  • Can do attitude
