Job Description

To be the compliance lead and drive a positive culture for Health & Safety, Environment and Quality, reporting directly to the Managing Director.

Essential Skills

  • A minimum of 4 years' experience of implementing and maintaining integrated ISO Management systems.
  • Demonstratable current experience with integrated management system standards, including ISO14001, ISO9001 and ISO45001.
  • Relevant professional qualifications, e.g. CertIOSH membership (may consider TechIOSH) as a minimum, auditor qualified (ISO 9001, 14001 or 45001).
  • Previous management experience.
  • Working knowledge of continual and/or process improvement techniques.
  • Ability to quickly build knowledge of the business operations and the environment (e.g., regulatory, physical) in which it operates and a general understanding of key generic risks and controls in these areas.
  • Excellent communication, presentation & influencing skills to be able to lead and inform both orally and in writing. This means excellent written and spoken English.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated, able to collaborate effectively with remote stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, develop, and implement the Integrated Management System.
  • Work with the Senior Leadership team to evolve and execute policy.
  • Provide effective challenge to the Board of Directors on SHEQ matters.
  • Lead continuous improvement of standards, practices, policies, and procedures through stakeholder engagement.
  • SHEQ reporting to the Board and presenting information in digestible and understandable formats.
  • Develop and maintain a communication programme to ensure all stakeholders are fully trained and aware of relevant risks and related requirements and responsibilities.
  • To proactively identify compliance requirements (within standards, legislation, and customer standards) and ensure compliance before commencement date.
  • Keeping up to date about pending industry changes, regulatory updates and changing trends/best practices. Propose any relevant amendments to compliance strategies as required.
  • To direct and audit that allows impartial SHEQ and ISO management system auditing.
  • Promote a positive mindset around SHEQ, building strong relationships with the workforce.
  • Provide leadership and management for safety, health, quality and environmental ensuring full regulatory compliance, supporting, and advising the business on all aspects of SHEQ.
  • Facilitate training initiatives and lead investigations, ensuring comprehensive reports and recommendations to prevent future incidents.
  • Support internal functions to ensure appropriate systems and resources are in place to manage risks effectively.

Requirements of the Role:

  • Proactive, self-motivated, strong integrity, team player.
  • A good understanding of MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prioritise.
  • Ability to persuade, influence and negotiate effectively at all levels within and outside the organisation.
  • NEBOSH Construction/National General Certificate - minimum.
  • NEBOSH/NCRQ Diploma - would be an advantage.
  • BSI or equivalent training - would be an advantage.
  • Environmental management systems qualification - would be an advantage.
  • Accuracy and diligence to detail.
  • Confident in speaking within a group environment and the ability to give presentations.
  • A driving licence.
