Reed Education is working with an independent SEN school in Lewes to find a dedicated and experienced Maths Teacher to join their well-established team from September 2024. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong background in SEN and a passion for nurturing and supporting young individuals with mild learning difficulties and associated behavioural challenges.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Deliver engaging Maths lessons and occasionally cover other subjects as required.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that caters to the individual needs of students with mild learning difficulties and emotional/social issues.
- Employ effective classroom management strategies to handle challenging behaviours calmly and successfully.
- Collaborate with other staff members to plan and coordinate lessons and activities.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching methods to suit different learning styles.
- Provide regular feedback to students, parents, and guardians to support student development.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- SEN teaching experience, with Maths as the main subject expertise.
- Ability to manage and teach students with challenging behaviours and special educational needs.
- Minimum of five years' experience in special needs education is preferred.
- Physical fitness and empathy towards young people.
- Must have entitlement to work in the UK.
- Provide proof of address and a DBS on the update service.
- Able to supply 2 years' worth of references.
