Do you want to develop your marketing skills in a busy and supportive environment, whilst helping householders, businesses and communities to reduce their energy bills and lower their carbon footprint?

We have an exciting opportunity for a marketing communications assistant to join our team on a fixed term contract. Based within our programme marketing team, you'll help to deliver digital and traditional marketing activities and campaigns, including content creation and providing administrative support. As part of Energy Saving Trust's wider marketing and communications team, you'll work with marketing professionals and energy experts to deliver your role at a crucial time.

The team

  • The Scottish programme marketing team is based in Edinburgh and sits within the wider Marketing Communications directorate. It's responsible for delivering tactical and strategic marketing and communications activities to support our programme teams to achieve their KPIs.
  • We are responsive - we handle a high volume of incoming requests from our internal stakeholders as well as the Scottish Government and other funders. We also identify ways in which we can work across other programme teams to help support each other's activities.
  • We are collaborative - we work very closely with colleagues in different Energy Saving Trust departments, suppliers, agencies and funders.
  • We are expert - we're responsible for advising colleagues on our specialist area.
  • We are supportive - we work closely as a team, helping make sure we achieve the best we can together.

What you'll do

  • You'll support the marketing team to implement annual marketing plans and assist with day-to-day tactical marketing activity.
  • You'll create content for and monitor our social media channels.
  • You'll assist with creating and editing website content such as news stories, blog posts and case studies.
  • You'll create, schedule and help optimise email campaigns.
  • You'll support with collateral development, events and general administrative tasks.

What you'll bring

  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational and communication skills.
  • Writing and editing experience for social media, with the ability to turn complex issues into succinct, compelling content.
  • An ability to work using your own initiative and manage and prioritise a busy workload.
  • It would be desirable (but not essential) to have digital marketing experience and knowledge, including experience of using website content management systems, social media monitoring platforms, email marketing platforms and experience in using design and basic video editing tools such as InDesign, Canva and Biteable.
  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
