The Graduate
To be successful in your application for this Primary Teaching Assistant role, it is essential that you have a strong academic record and natural ability to form strong bonds with children. The ideal candidate will be looking to start a career as a Primary Teacher and be excited to start learning the key skills that will one day make them an outstanding practitioner.
The Role
The students you will be working with are likely to include high numbers of pupils with EAL and SEN requirements. This has created an interesting, vibrant atmosphere at the school and will give you the chance to practice working with more challenging students. Working alongside 8 other graduates who share your passion for primary education, you will be offered extensive training in areas such as phonics and literacy etc. In addition, you will have the opportunity to lead a small group of children on your own, helping raise attainment levels and bridging the gap between them and their peers. You will also start or help with lunchtime/afterschool clubs. These activities are rarely available for teaching assistants and are sure to put you ahead of your competition when you come to apply for teacher training schemes.
