Senior Network Engineer

infrastructure for the WAN, LAN, SAN, VPN networks.

  • Supporting and inputting to infrastructure as code deployments in the cloud, working alongside DevOps

engineers.

Description

Duties & Responsibilities:
This role will encompass a range of responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Design, build, configure, install, test and managed a high availability and fault tolerant network and

infrastructure for the WAN, LAN, SAN, VPN networks.

  • Supporting and inputting to infrastructure as code deployments in the cloud, working alongside DevOps

engineers.

  • Supporting / maintaining / monitoring the automated / manual batch processes and all Operational tasks.
  • Delivering proactive monitoring tools and systems to ensure internal reporting capability meets SLA for high

availability.

  • Managing upgrades and security patch updates.
  • Network optimisation.
  • Capacity planning and performance monitoring.
  • 2nd and 3rd line operational support.
  • Provide technical consultancy as required.
  • Security and protection tools, processes and systems.
  • Enforcing and delivering change management and request fulfilment activities.
  • Take ownership of incident and problem management projects.
  • Management of Data Centres assets - space, equipment.
  • Managing issues/risks and escalating as appropriate.
  • Creating and maintaining support documentation.
  • Managing / working with key 3rd party suppliers.
  • Maintaining awareness of industry trends / new technology.
  • Providing system backup capabilities.
  • Provide support to junior team members.
  • Expected to play key technical resources / technical lead roles in delivery of critical business projects.
  • Take ownership of the request fulfilment.

Profile

Key Skills & Qualifications Sought:

  • Site to Site IPsec Tunnels
  • Client VPN Access
  • An excellent understanding of networking principles.
  • Cisco Routing Protocols (BGP and OSPF)
  • Cisco Switches - Layer 3 and 2 (Cisco 9000 Series)
  • Experience in FPR1000, FPR2000 series Firewalls, Cisco 4000 and 8000 Routers
  • Essential - CCNP or CCIE
  • Desirable - Understanding ITIL processes and Agile Methodology (Working in 2-week sprints), Network
