PRE-PRESS Operative
Our client has a dedicated studio with an array of cutting-edge digital printers and assorted digital cutters operated by a skilled team. The Pre-press team sits within the Studio team and requires that you work closely with the Artworkers, in preparing finished artwork for production within their on-site print and finishing facility.

You will be taking the finished artwork files from the studio and ensuring they are checked and imposed correctly for a variety of different printing and finishing methods.

While preparing artwork for print you will liaise between the studio and production teams to ensure jobs are produced correctly and in an efficient and timely manner.

With sustainability at the core of everything that our client does, imposition is a key part of the role and you will be utilising Esko Automation Engine to nest the files on various roll and sheet medias in order to get the most value out of a print run as well as bespoke scripts and applications written in-house to meet company specific requirements.

Attention to detail is critical to the role and you will be responsible for pre-flighting the studio's files, checking the size, quantities & bleed is all correct and tallies with the job details and client's brief prior to going into production.

Your main duties will include:

  • Operating with integrity - performing whole and complete work for and with all

colleagues, clients and suppliers alike.

  • Ensuring the business maintains its status as an industry leading team of dynamic, proactive & professional specialists.
  • In depth training is provided as a core part of all new starters' induction. In addition, with such a nuanced and bespoke business, on-the-job learning remains the single most effective way to learn what the company does.
  • Checking artwork files and preparing them for print production
  • Overseeing automation and file nesting
  • Liaising with Studio team to correct Artwork where necessary.

CORE KNOWLEDGE BASE

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in Graphic Design/Artworking or Print industry.
  • Outstanding technical digital print knowledge.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience working on files for a varied range of print and finishing production.
  • A good knowledge of Adobe CC especially InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro.
  • Excellent written English.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Some knowledge of Esko Automation Engine and Caldera RIP Software (Desirable) Apple Script (Desirable).
