Mechanical Engineering Manager

Our client is an international organisation with a presence in 76 countries and 160,000 employees. They design, manufacture and distribute materials and services for the construction and industrial markets and as such, own a number of mines/quarries in the UK and now have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Manager on the outskirts of Burton.

In this role, you will be recognized as the statutory competent person responsible for the management of the Mechanical Engineering function of the mine in accordance with legislation and for delivering the mechanical KPIs and SPIs utilizing extensive experience and knowledge in engineering and operations manangement in order to ensure the safety, environmental and quality standards are achieved whilst satisfying demand. In order to fulfil this, you will be expected to carry out the following:

  • Ensure mine mechanical engineering function is operated in accordance with legalities and company policies
  • Control of costs and budgets
  • Succession planning
  • Improves equipment reliability
  • Man management of ten staff
  • Prepare and agree budgets
  • Development of staff
  • Undertake ad hoc duties as defined by management

In order to undertake this role, it is expected that you will have a solid background in Mechanical Engineering along with man management experience and ideally be from a mining or quarrying environment.
