  • Contract Type: Maternity Cover (8-12 months)
  • Location: London and South-East England
  • Salary: Circa £40,000 per annum

We are seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to join our team on a maternity cover basis, starting from October 2024. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing our safety programmes, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and leading initiatives to continuously improve our safety standards.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Create, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the organisation complies with all health and safety legislation.
  • Produce and update Construction Phase Plans and site folders, and prepare site boxes for projects.
  • Perform regular risk assessments, produce method statements, and carry out site safety inspections.
  • Compile, create, and distribute Health & Safety Files upon completion of works.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, and report RIDDOR reportable incidents as required.
  • Act as a point of contact for health and safety-related issues to staff and contractors.
  • Organise and conduct training sessions for employees on health and safety practices.
  • Maintain records of safety inspections, risk assessments, and training sessions.
  • Implement programmes to promote workplace health and well-being.
  • Approve Sub-Contractors and manage their Health & Safety documentation on the system.
  • Manage PPE/RPE stock levels and ensure plant register is correct and maintained.
  • Update SSIP information to keep accreditations up to date.
  • Assist with internal ISO45001 audits and the annual external audit to ensure company compliance.
  • Attend monthly line managers meetings and report as per agenda.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent.
  • Must be computer literate and possess a valid driver's license with own car.
