Who you'll be helping

Marsh Way House is a complex needs service providing short-term temporary accommodation to 48 single people, aged 16+ who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Many of our customers lead chaotic lifestyles, often they have a background of offending, addiction and/or mental health. Our customers can quite often be dis-engaged in accepting support and you will need to think outside the box, adapt and work flexibly to help them succeed.

To be successful in this role you will need to be non-judgemental, empathetic and proactive in order to support customers to make better life choices and move on to longer term accommodation. Though some days your resilience will be required, working with customers at Marsh Way House is incredibly rewarding and your input can truly make a difference here.

While Riverside does have roles for carers, this is a role perfect for those looking to deliver housing related support.

What will you do?

Marsh Way House is fast paced environment and you will need exceptional planning and organisation skills and work well under pressure.

You will plan and deliver a range of personalised support to customers, working with individuals and empowering them to achieve their goals and aspirations. You will heavily contribute to the day-to-day running of the scheme undertaking a range of administrative tasks and customer service responsibilities. Including:-

  • Facilitating the daily task list, delegating to other members of the team.
  • Keeping support plans and risk/needs assessments up to date.
  • Managing crisis situations
  • Cleaning & preparing any vacant flats ready for re-let.

For a deeper understanding of your responsibilities, take a look at the job description linked below.

If you share our values and are excited about making a significant impact at Riverside, please ensure you attach a current CV and covering letter. At Riverside we recruit to potential not just on skills and experience, so we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet all the essential criteria on the job description.

The difference you will make as a Support Worker

You will be working from one of our supported services providing support to our customers in a variety of ways. For example, connecting them with employability coaches and other support agencies, helping them manage their money, signing up for benefits or to move on to a more permanent home.

It will be your job to help boost their confidence and support them on their journey as they rebuild their lives. Through all of this you will need to keep records of everything, so there is some admin to do. At times this role is tough, but most of the time it can be incredibly rewarding. You will need to be resilient, empathetic, and able to leave your work at work and not take it home with you.
