Job Description:
As a Yard Operative, you will play a crucial role in the smooth operation of our yard. This position offers a fantastic opportunity for someone keen to build a career in the building supplies industry, with full training provided. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure the efficient handling and delivery of materials. daily use of the forklift and driving cover on deliveries.
Responsibilities:
- Receiving and Handling Materials: Unload deliveries, check for accuracy, and store materials in the correct locations.
- Customer Service: Assist customers with loading and unloading their vehicles, providing exceptional service and product knowledge.
- Inventory Management: Keep track of stock levels, report shortages, and help maintain an organized and tidy yard.
- Order Preparation: Pick and prepare orders for dispatch, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
- Maintenance: Conduct regular checks and maintenance of yard equipment and machinery.
- Health and Safety: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff and customers.
- Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure the smooth operation of the yard.
Requirements:
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform manual labour, including lifting and carrying heavy materials.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills to interact effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in handling orders and maintaining inventory.
- Reliability: Punctual, dependable, and with a strong work ethic.
- Team Player: Ability to work well within a team and support others.
- Willingness to Learn: Eagerness to undergo training and develop skills within the building supplies industry.
- Desirable: Ability to speak a second language.
Working Hours:
- Monday - Friday: 6:30am - 3:00pm
- 1 in 3 Saturdays: 7:00am - 11:00am
Compensation:
- Hourly Rate: £11.50 per hour
- Type: Temp to Perm role
