We are seeking a dedicated Finance Officer to join the Accounts Payable and Income Team at a prestigious university. This role is crucial for ensuring all accounting payments and receipts are accurately recorded and processed promptly. The successful candidate will provide a customer-focused service, handling income and debts efficiently and professionally.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Process invoices from suppliers and distribute them electronically to internal departments for progression.
  • Administer day-to-day payments, ensuring timely processing.
  • Liaise with customers, and external organisations regarding outstanding debt and funding, including issuing statements and written correspondence.
  • Review and allocate payments received/issued by the organisation, maintaining accurate, complete, and up-to-date records and systems.
  • Ensure payments comply with agreed organisations processes and regulations through liaison with staff.
  • Communicate with suppliers to ensure accurate and timely processing of payments and refunds, resolving any issues.
  • Provide efficient, effective, and customer-oriented service in person, by phone, and via email.
  • Support the Income Team during enrolment and assist across the organisation as required.
  • Offer support to the Accounts Payable and Income Teams as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A good standard of education, with at least 5 GCSEs including English and Maths, Grade A-C, or equivalent qualification.
  • Proficient IT and spreadsheet skills, with proven use of Microsoft software (Excel and Word).
  • A solid understanding of fundamental purchase ledger and sales ledger accounting principles.
  • Experience working within an Accounts Payable Team.
  • Experience in sales ledger administration duties.
  • Familiarity with computerised systems and databases.

  • A Team player, who can manage their own busy workload.
  • Organised and self-motivated.
