Butler Rose is delighted to be working on behalf of a Top 15 firm, offering a fantastic opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join their central finance team in Milton Keynes. This is a newly created role, born from the firm's continued growth and success. As a Financial Accountant reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will be integral to delivering high-quality financial and management information to both internal and external stakeholders.

In this role, you'll also be identifying areas for improvement within the firm's financial controls and processes, recommending practicable solutions, and leading their implementation. You'll become a key player within a supportive and collaborative team environment, where your contributions will directly impact the firm's continued success.

The ideal candidate:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified, or equivalent experience.
  • A proactive approach with a constant drive for efficiency and improvement.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel and Word (SAP experience is a plus, but not essential).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with staff at all levels across the group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting daily/monthly bank reconciliations and month-end reporting, including journal postings and account reconciliations.
  • Managing quarterly VAT returns, BACS payment runs, and intercompany invoicing and reconciliations.
  • Preparing management accounts, maintaining the fixed asset ledger, and ensuring timely Companies House filings.
  • Liaising with banks for various administrative tasks and with HR for maintaining staff loans records.
  • Assisting with company budgets, Group consolidation, and year-end audit preparations.
  • Covering for other Financial Accountants during critical periods, especially for month-end processes.
