Application Support Engineer

CPS Group UK are delighted to be working with a well-known organisation based in Stevenage to appoint a seasoned Application Support Engineer as part of a new support model, with an emphasis on supporting critical GxP applications.

The Application Support Engineer will hold responsibility for providing technical support and troubleshooting for various critical software applications used across the organisation. Working closely with end users, developers and other internal IT personnel, the Application Support Engineer will ensure the smooth running of software applications and resolve any associated issues promptly.

Role Requirements

  • Provide robust 1st & 2nd Line support for software applications (incl. issue resolution and user queries)
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot application-centric issues (e.g. bugs, configuration issues and network connectivity problems)
  • Assist users with application-centric inquiries and provide training where appropriate
  • Log, track and manage application-centric incidents via the ticketing system
  • Close collaboration with developers to escalate and resolve complex issues, participate in root cause analysis and future-proof applications
  • Produce and maintain application support procedures and training materials
  • Assist in the installation, configuration and testing of app updates and patches
  • Ensure all application support activities adhere to company (and regulatory) requirements

Required Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable proficiency and experienced in supporting and troubleshooting software applications
  • Experience with GxP applications (or similar)
  • Experienced in SQL and database management
  • Familiarity with Windows & macOS environments (and associated technologies)
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experience with scripting or programming (e.g. PowerShell) - desirable
  • Able to work on-site Monday-Friday
