  • Pay Rate: £19.66 per hour (paye)

Rotherham Council are looking for a skilled Health and Safety Training Advisor to support RMBC in delivering essential training and compliance objectives. This role is pivotal in managing a backlog in training delivery across various critical areas including manual handling, risk assessment, incident investigation, and fire safety.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Conduct a comprehensive needs analysis to identify legal compliance gaps, regulatory requirements, and risk-based priorities.
  • Design and deliver tailored training packages that meet the specific needs of individuals and operational environments, particularly within the revenue function.
  • Balance face-to-face training sessions with computer-based training (CBT), managing some outsourced elements.
  • Provide professional and competent health and safety advice, ensuring that appropriate policies, procedures, training, and assessments are in line with national legislation and guidance.
  • Support the implementation of control measures through correct systems and processes for reporting and investigating accidents/incidents.
  • Conduct proactive audits and inspections as part of risk-based priority planning programmes.
  • Develop and implement systems to ensure the competence of contractors is routinely assessed and monitored.
  • Engage stakeholders proactively to ensure the success of the council-wide safety management system.
  • Design and coordinate a prioritised training and development programme for all stakeholders across the council.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety professional, particularly in training and compliance.
  • Strong ability to analyze tasks and design fit-for-purpose training solutions.
  • Experience in delivering both face-to-face and computer-based training.
  • Knowledge of current legislation related to health and safety.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Specialisms in areas such as HAVS, Fire Safety, Asbestos Management, and Training and Development are highly desirable.
  • Valid Standard DBS on the update service
