Right Now Group are currently looking for a freight warehouse case maker to specialise in export packaging, working for one of the market-leaders in this niche industry.
This is a permanent opportunity working in the London Heathrow Airport area, requiring someone hands-on with minimum 3 years of experience in the air freight warehouse environment.
In return, a very generous salary along with a Monday-Friday work pattern and regular overtime will be offered to the successful candidate.
Duties and responsibilities of a freight warehouse case maker
- Safely operate counterbalance forklifts to handle cargo and freight in compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
- Construct export cases using materials such as wood, plywood, metal, or plastic, based on customer requirements and shipping specifications.
- Customise cases according to the size, weight, fragility, and nature of the goods being transported, ensuring proper protection during transit.
- Accurately measure and cut materials to appropriate dimensions using saws, drills, and other woodworking tools.
- Assemble case components securely, including sidewalls, base, lid, hinges, locks, and handles, ensuring structural integrity and stability.
- Reinforce cases with internal cushioning, padding, or shock-absorbing materials to protect delicate items from damage.
- Inspect finished cases for defects, irregularities, and compliance with quality standards before packaging and shipment.
The successful freight warehouse case maker:
- At least 3 years of experience working in an air freight warehouse environment, with knowledge of air freight operations, procedures, and equipment.
- Hands-on character, with an interest in construction tasks involving woodwork, power tools and packaging construction.
- Experience using machinery, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand tools, with a valid certification or license where required.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects repeatedly, as well as stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks.
- Any experience or qualifications in dangerous goods handling would be highly advantageous.
