We have a fantastic opportunity for two Private Rented Sector Officer at Manchester City Council. This is a full-time temporary role for the next 3 months, with the possibility of extension.

What is the role?

Manchester City Council are looking for two Private Rented Sector Officer, to work within the Homelessness Directorate. You will carry out assessments to determine service users' needs and provide appropriate support to ensure that outcomes are achieved within required timescales.

What are your responsibilities?

  • You will work in a busy team, managing a varied caseload. You will also be required to work with a variety of service users, both face to face and over the telephone.
  • It will involve you looking for accommodation for households who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless.
  • Sourcing accommodation to resolve client's homeless journey within the private rented sector.
  • This will involve meeting landlords / letting agents inside and outside of Manchester to secure accommodation.
  • You will be required to accompany clients to the property viewings.
  • Provide intensive support for customers with complex support needs offering holistic support plans that agree individual targets and work towards the achievement of longer-term solutions and aspirations.
  • Assist customers to identify realistic goals, by providing choice and developing actions, ensuring full commitment and agreement from all parties to ensure the achievement of identified targets.
  • Adopt a flexible and personalised approach when working with service users and their families to enable the development of confidence and resilience and to help service users achieve independence and control of their own lives.
  • Maintain accurate, up to date records and collect data and information to evidence performance around service delivery to ensure achievement of internal and external targets.

What skills do you Need?

  • Must have previous Private Rented Sector Officer experience.
  • Excellent people skills, as you will be speaking to the public / clients, and other members of staff including managers.
  • HHSRS, Knowledge and experience would be beneficial
  • Very Strong IT skills, as you will be using Microsoft office and other internal IT Systems.
  • Valid Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Full UK Driving Licence, and access to a vehicle
  • Free Parking
