Job Title: Transport Network Planner

Reporting To: Transport Manager

Salary: £32,000 - £35,000

Job Overview:

As a transport network planner, you will play a crucial role in coordinating the movement of goods and ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of products or materials. Your primary responsibilities include optimising transportation routes, ensuring compliance with transportation regulations, and coordinating with various stakeholders to guarantee timely and safe deliveries. You must be flexible to work 11:00-20:00 Monday - Friday.

Primary Responsibilities:

" Planning: Develop and implement operational policies, standards, and procedures to ensure organisational efficiency

" Plan and optimise transportation routes for the timely delivery of goods

" Analyse and evaluate different route options, considering factors like traffic, road conditions, and travel time

" Ensure fuel efficiency and cost-effectiveness in transport planning

" Quality Control: Ensure that products/services meet quality standards set by the organisation

" Crisis Management: Address transportation issues in real-time, including vehicle breakdowns, traffic delays, or any other disruptions

" Cost Management: Monitor transportation costs, identify areas of improvement, and implement strategies to reduce costs without compromising on service quality

" Continuous Improvement: Keep up with industry best practices and introduce new methods or technologies to improve transportation processes

" Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all transportation activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Implement safety protocols and procedures

" Route Planning: Organize and plan the most efficient routes for drivers, ensuring that deliveries are made in a timely manner and resources are utilized effectively

Candidate skills and Experience:

" Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in transportation or logistics

" Strong organizational and analytical skills

" MS Office literate and local software planning/ routing tools

" Knowledge of "Freight forwarding/ Freight Exchange/ Haulage Exchange platforms

" Identifying issues swiftly and finding suitable solutions

" Network of contacts and relationships across the industry, cross-border/ sector collaboration (desirable)

" Strong knowledge of transportation management systems and software / knowledge of "Freight forwarding/ Freight Exchange/ Haulage Exchange platforms

Education: GCSE'S Grade A- C
