Position: User Researcher
Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow
Working Hours: 29.6 hours over 4 days, excluding breaks
Model: Hybrid (office and home-based)
Start Date: Week commencing 05 August 2024
Duration: 3 months with the potential to extend
Day Rate: £280
About the Role:
Our client is dedicated to designing and implementing devolved benefits for Scotland, aiming to deliver 16.5 million payments annually to approximately two million people. This role is situated within the Programme Management and Delivery Division, where you will support various teams in delivering user-centred systems, services, and processes.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and conduct user research using a range of qualitative and quantitative methods to meet business and project needs.
  • Collaborate with teams to provide actionable insights and support informed decision-making.
  • Facilitate the inclusion of diverse user groups in research activities.
  • Advocate for accessibility, assisted digital, and inclusive design practices, ensuring services are accessible to all.
  • Support teams in improving their understanding and engagement with users and embedding user insights into their work.
  • Manage ethics and consent processes for research participants.
  • Oversee the use and licensing of user research tools and facilities.
  • Assist in developing data protection and equality's impact assessments.
  • Understand and promote user-centred service design and delivery practices.
  • Raise awareness of the social and technological context for government services.

Essential Skills:
1. Proven experience in a research role, utilising various research methods tailored to different situations and contexts.
2. Ability to communicate research approaches and insights effectively to diverse audiences, ensuring stakeholder understanding.
3. Expertise in designing inclusive research sessions that cater to the diverse needs of participants.
4. Experience in managing personal data, consent processes, and ethical considerations when engaging with research participants.
Additional Requirements:

  • A Basic Disclosure Scotland Certificate is required.
  • BPSS clearance prior to starting role
