Engineering Group based in Portsmouth, Hampshire, has an opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller to undertake the day to day responsibility of the finance function and support the wider business through the production of accurate and insightful reports to add strategic business decision making.
What will the Financial Controller role involve?
Reporting to the Finance Director, the key responsibilities of the Financial Controller position will include:
- Preparation of all statutory and corporate statements and returns within set deadlines;
- Provision of monthly analysis of monthly results providing insight on performance by product to aid business planning and strategic decision making;
- Production of monthly management accounts, overseeing the annual budgeting process and associated monthly reforecasting providing commentary on any variances;
- Ensure that all internal controls and processes are in line with external requirements;
- Management and continued development of finance team of 5 including undertaking monthly reviews, supporting ongoing studies and annual appraisals.
Suitable Candidate for the Financial Controller position:
- Applicants for the position will ideally hold a full accountancy qualification with a proven track record of working successfully in a similar role where they have demonstrated strong statutory reporting and financial control capabilities;
- Previous experience of reviewing existing processes and control, implementing effective improvements where necessary;
- Detail-orientated with the ability to see and understand the strategic direction and larger, corporate picture;
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to work effectively with non-finance individuals at all levels across various departments within the business;
- Proven team leadership and development skills.
