Behaviour Mentor needed at Secondary Alternative Education Provision that caters for young people aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional or Mental Health difficulties (SEMH).

*The right person for this role will need to be adaptable, resilient, patient, empathetic and able to persevere with their students through their obstacles and challenges over the long term in order to progress. You will need to be passionate about supporting young people from vulnerable & disadvantaged backgrounds.

Role: Behaviour Mentor at Secondary Alternative Education Provision in the Stockport area.
Location: Stockport
Start Date: ASAP in September 2024
Contract: Full time & long term, could go perm for the right person.

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am-3:30pm.

Pay: Up to £105/day DOE for first 12 weeks.

Expected to turn into a permanent role for the right person.

Equal pay to permanent staff in similar roles from 13th week onward, on a pro-rata daily rate basis.

Paid PAYE via Tradewind. We don't use third party umbrella payroll companies!

Key aspects of the role:

  • Provide 1:1 academic, emotional & behavioural support to students aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs (SEMH) and challenging behaviours.
  • Some of the students are Looked After Children, Non-Attenders or on phased re-integration's to school.
  • Holistic yet flexible approach needed that starts by building strong, honest, transparent and trusting relationships with pupils in order to combat the difficulties they face that include social & emotional needs.
  • Assist in implementing personalised learning plans, tailored to individual student's requirements.
  • Foster a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment, encouraging student's engagement and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to develop effective strategies and interventions.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young adults that display challenging behaviours.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
