  • £19.18 per hour PAYE / £24.80 per hour Umbrella (increasing to £26.18 from 13th week)
  • Up to 40 days paid annual leave per holiday year (PAYE route only)
  • This role is mostly remote with just the need to go to the office on your first day to collect IT equipment. There will be an occasional need to go into the office for face to face training. This will be at the office based in Wandsworth.

This is a temporary role in a small team to help the team through a busy time of year where they carry out the rent review and they team require administrative assistance to ensure the daily tasks are completed in a timely fashion.

Duties

  • Responsible to the Principal Rent Accountant primarily for the maintenance of the rent accounts, the day-to-day control of the Council's Rents Accounting module and to assist in the control and management of all other associated systems as required.
  • Facilitates and produces routine statistical data as and when required e.g. managing agents' monthly performance statistics, Business Plan, Audit Commission, Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and Policy Unit statistics, etc.
  • Responsible to Principal Rent Accountant for updating individual client account Records on the computerised Rents system in respect of:
  • DWP Bulk Payment schedules (includes checking data received from Department of Works & Pensions)
  • Termination payments received from DWP
  • Other DWP notifications
  • Where proper authorisation is received, transfer and/or adjust relevant charges and/or payments to proper rent accounts, client accounts and other departmental cost centres.
  • In accordance with proper management controls and authorisation creates, updates and deletes data within the computerised Rents system.
  • In respect of the heating and hot water charges for a particular dwelling calculates and applies correct rebates to appropriate rent accounts and deletes charges where proper authorisation has been received
  • Investigates and corrects missing payments and mispostings.
  • In respect of the Council's Giro Bank Account ensures that all invoices are duly paid and for those clients who use this system of paying rents ensures that any rejected payments are investigated and applied to the correct rent account.
  • Ensures that all monies transacted via the "suspense" account are properly and regularly transferred to appropriate rent accounts and that these accounts are properly reconciled.
  • Responsible for approving rent refund batches on the rent accounting system.
  • Responsible for the checking and verifying of first stage FTA write off batches.
  • Processes payment requests for the Councils external creditors in relation to the Property Accounts section.
