Community Safety Project Officer

Join our team as a Community Safeguarding Support Officer and make a positive difference to the local community where you will contribute to the work of reducing crime, disorder, and offending.

Salary: £30,296 to £33,024 per annum

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract until 09 June 2026. The final end date will be confirmed with the successful candidate.

Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week) Monday to Friday

Location: County Hall, West Street, Chichester, PO19 1RQ (Hybrid and Flexible Working).

This role offers hybrid working arrangements and will require you to work from county council office buildings and make regular visits to meet other partners, as well as the flexibility of home working as appropriate. Final arrangements to be confirmed with successful candidate.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a committed professional who can effectively coordinate partnership work ensuring a high quality, consistent and effective service is delivered.

On a day-to-day basis, you will be dealing with a range of complex issues where you will identify practical and efficient solutions and meet with partners across West Sussex and, take part in, as well as facilitate engagement sessions.

You will coordinate the participation of a variety of partners in a wide range of activities and initiatives, fostering connections between different fields and organisations while also ensuring the smooth operation of all partnership-related meetings and events.

You will support the delivery of specific projects, and at times work directly with residents and communities. This can include directly working with children and young people and engaging in community focused activity.

As a subject matter expert, you will be responsible for co-ordinating multi-agency activities and promoting partnership working with a wide range of stakeholders.

About You

This is a role that requires someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as personal resilience and professionalism when dealing with potentially sensitive, confidential, or distressing queries.

You will have keen attention to detail, be comfortable working independently and be at ease in this fast-paced, agile environment with rapidly changing deadlines, workloads, and priorities.

With a degree or extensive experience in a related field, the ideal candidate will possess the ability to effectively communicate information in a clear, concise, and accurate manner. This individual will be skilled at presenting information verbally or in written/electronic formats to diverse audiences.

You will be able to work effectively as part of a team completing shared tasks in order to deliver a service to others.
