Health, Safety & Environment Assistant

If you are looking for an exciting new role working within a company that offers flexibility, training, career progression and more then you may be interested in the new Part Time Health, Safety & Environmental Assitant role that we are recruiting for on behalf of our lovely client based in Harlow. They are a family run business, working within the Aerospace sector and due to an increase in business, are looking to grow their team.

Boasting a high profile list of clientele, they cover a range of treatments such as Non-Destructive Testing, Electroplating, Anodising, Painting and Process Evaluation, The Health, Safety & Environment Assistant will be a crucial part of the team, reporting to the Health & Safety Manager.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain systems and databases to ensure comprehensive compliance across all health and safety areas, including accident and incident reporting, audit results, monthly safety checks, and action plan tracking
  • Undertake workplace inspections and observation of working practices and produce detailed health and safety reports for senior management, highlighting key metrics, incidents, and compliance status
  • Coordinate and administer health and safety training programs for all employees, liaising with Human Resources and our Quality Management Teams to ensure records of such training are maintained and readily available
  • Support the creation, distribution, and delivery of safety materials, including posters, newsletters, and toolbox talks
  • Ensure all accidents and near misses are properly recorded and investigated and that corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence and work with appointed H&S consultants to create schedules and ensure all risk assessments, fire risk assessments, audits, and other country-specific surveys are carried out as planned
  • Monitor and interpret legislative updates related to health and safety and environment, ensuring the organisation remains compliant with all relevant laws and regulations
  • Any other Health, Safety or Environmental tasks deemed appropriate by the company

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Safety Assistant/Advisor or a similar role.
  • Ideally hold a NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Level 3 Qualification in Occupational Health & Safety and Technical IOSH membership as a minimum
  • Excellent report writing skills with attention to detail and effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively and have strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite. Excel knowledge is essential
  • Ability to conduct training sessions and present information clearly and effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive and solution-oriented mindset
